Welcome to Chi Lambda
More than fifty years ago in Menomonie, Wisconsin, men, who attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout, felt the need for a new organization on campus. Their feeling, that more mature standards should prevail within and without a fraternity.
In 1956, after a number of preliminary meetings, a constitution was constructed and presented to the Stout Student Association for adopting. On May 8, 1956, the constitution was recognized. The Chi Lambda Fraternity (XΛ), lead by William Romoser, with 23 members was recognized at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Chi Lambda was organized
• To create a strong bond of brotherhood among the members
• To foster social competence of the members
• To promote high moral and ethical values
• To contribute to the wholesome growth of the extracurricular activities of the campus.
With these objectives in mind, the fraternity became an active part of campus activities. In the 1960's, Chi Lambda sponsored the annual Madrigal and Street Dance and the Fraternity Computer dance. The fraternity has kept busy through the 70’ to 90’s planning and building a float for the parade, participating in the Homecoming royalty competition, and hosting alumni events. Other events through the year have included more Greek events, Thursday night socials, Milk Party, Chili feeds to benefit the Menomonie food pantry.
Meetings continue to be held on Thursday nights. Special meetings are called for, for installation of new officers on the executive board, XΛ pledges and for special social functions under approval of the membership. Emotional and cultural values as well as building brotherhood, and social benefits are derived from these meetings.
Other activities that occur throughout the year are philanthropy projects, Parent’s Weekend, Greek week, Milk Party, Teeter Totter, Formal dinner, and Date Parties. Currently at University of Wisconsin-Stout, Chi Lambda is joined by fraternities Kappa Lambda Beta, Sigma Tau Gamma, Phi Sigma Phi, Phi Omega Beta.
With newly activated President Nick Pfundeller, XΛ continues to grow in brotherhood, academics, social events and in men becoming leading role models.
