Sigma Lambda Chi is the international honor society for construction. The fundamental purpose of Sigma Lambda Chi is to provide recognition to outstanding students in construction curricula. Sigma Lambda Chi is the society that offers students the opportunity to be recognized locally and internationally for their academic accomplishments as a construction major.

Epsilon III, the Sigma Lambda Chi chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, was founded on April 27, 1994. This chapter includes 12 current members and 204 Epsilon chapter members. The chapter advisors are Tim Becker and Glendali Rodriguez. Current Board members are Cody Weber (President), Eric Portz (Vice President), Matt Frey (Treasurer), Mike Granke (Public Relations), and Corey Voigt (Secretary).

Sigma Lambda Chi was founded by a group of individuals from Michigan State University who strived to enhance the construction profession. The first chapter was established on April 30, 1949, during which the general guidelines for the organization were developed. To date, Sigma Lambda Chi has grown to include 54 chapters throughout the United States and Australia, with a total membership of over ten thousand. Sigma Lambda Chi is headquartered at Purdue University.

The Requirements to Become a Member

Students must accomplish several requirements for membership, these include earning an overall scholastic average in the upper twenty-percent of their incoming class, participate in at least one extracurricular activity, work in some phase of the construction or its allied fields, having completed at least 19 AEC credits and demonstrate character traits that promise the reflection of integrity upon Sigma Lambda Chi. A student’s acceptance into this organization requires a life-long commitment to ensure quality construction, efficient use of materials, and include high ethical standards and responsibility in all daily activities and decisions.
